Bakuna sa mga estudyante, sagot sa face-to-face classes

Pinag-aaralan na ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) ang pagbabakuna sa mga estudyante laban sa COVID-19, ayon sa Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Pahayag ni CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera, "Magbabakuna ba tayo ng mga estudyante at mga bata? This is going to be discussed, by the way, in the IATF this week.”

Aniya pa, "In other parts of the world... they are reviewing their policy and thinking of prioritizing vaccinating students so they can go back to some face-to-face classes."

Ayon kay De Vera, maaaring makatulong sa mental health ng mga estudyante ang pagbabakuna dahil marami ang mas nahihirapan sa online classes.

Saad pa ni De Vera, "The mental health of students are really getting affected and they'd like the students to be going out of their homes more frequently. The answer in other countries is to vaccinate them.”

Ayon sa vaccine czar na si Secretary Carlito Galvez, kabilang sa mga pinag-aaralang bakunahan ay ang mga edad-12 hanggang 17.

PLM, balik face-to-face classes na

Ibabalik na ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) ang kanilang face-to-face education na limitado lamang para sa Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, at Physical Therapy kasunod ng pag-apruba ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Sa isang statement na inilabas ng pamunuan ng PLM, sa ilalim ng clearance na ibinigay ng CHED, maaari nang ipagpatuloy ng mga estudyante ang kanilang hands-on medical clerkship na isa sa mga requirement para makapagtapos sa College of Medicine.

Pina-finalize naman ng College of Nursing at College of Physical Therapy ang kanilang mga plano kung anong laboratory courses ang isasagawa para sa limitadong face-to-face classes dahil sa mahigit isang taong pagkakaroon ng bansa ng COVID-19 lockdowns.

Matatandaang sinimulan ng PLM noong Pebrero ang kanilang online consultation sa mga estudyante, magulang, guro, faculty at mga practicing doctors na nasa Ospital ng Maynila para talakayin ang mga ideya sa pagpapatuloy ng hands-on learning.

Binisita naman ng mga opisyal ng CHED ang PLM campus noong April upang suriin ang kahandaan ng eskuwelahan, at kung ipinatutupad ang minimum health standards sa mga classrooms.

Hanggang first semester ng academic year 2021-2022 ang ibinigay na awtorisasyon para magsagawa ng limited face-to-face classes ang naturang paaralan.

Samantala, noong Enero, ipinaubaya na ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) sa mga lokal na pamahalaan ang awtorisasyon upang mag-apruba sa kahilingan ng muling pagbubukas ng face-to-face classes para sa medicine at health-related courses sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic, habang si Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ay una nang pinayagan ang pagpapatuloy ng limited physical classes para sa medical schools ng mga unibersidad at colleges sa nasabing lungsod.

Inaprubahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang proposal ng Department of Education (DepEd) na magsagawa ng dry run ng face-to-face classes sa ilang paaralan sa mga low COVID-risk na lugar sa January 2021, ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Aniya, “The Palace informs that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Cabinet approved during tonight’s Cabinet meeting, December 14, 2020, the presentation of the Department of Education (DepEd) to conduct pilot implementation or dry run of face-to-face classes in selected schools within areas with low COVID-risk for the whole month of January 2021.”

Saad din ni Roque, makikipag-ugnayan ang DepEd sa COVID-19 National Task Force para sa naturang dry run. Aniya, “The pilot shall be done under strict health and safety measures, and where there is a commitment for shared responsibility among DepEd, local government units, and parents.”

Paglilinaw din ni Roque, “We need to emphasize that face-to-face classes in schools where this may be allowed will not be compulsory, but rather voluntary on the part of the learner / parents.

"Having said this, a parent’s permit needs to be submitted for the student to participate in face-to-face classes."
