74K trabaho, alok sa Labor Day — DOLE

Halos 74,000 trabaho na ang maaaring apply-an sa job fair ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) sa darating na Labor Day.

Nasa 73,779 ang job vacancies sa taunang labor day job fair, at maaari pang dagdagan habang papalapit ang Labor Day sa Mayo 1.

Karamihan sa mga trabaho ay galing sa business process outsourcing, manufacturing, financial and insurance activities, manpower services at sales and marketing

Kaugnay nito, may 40 venue ang job fair sa buong bansa pero sa SMX Convention Center sa Pasay ang main venue na bukas na simula Abril 30.

Paalala sa mga aplikante, magdala ng sapat na kopya ng resume, diploma, transcript of records at certificate of employment.

Bello sa MECO at Nograles sa CSC, nakabilang sa Marcos Cabinet

Ipinahayag ni President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na kanyang napili si outgoing Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello bilang chairman at resident representative ng Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) sa Taiwan, at si dating Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles bilang chairman ng Civil Service Commission (CSC).

“Bello and Nograles join a growing pool of officials retained from the Duterte administration by President-elect Marcos in his bid to select officials with proven track records who will help in nation-building,” batay sa kampo ni Marcos.

Bago naging DOLE chief noong 2016 sa administrasyon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, si Bello ay nagsilbing cabinet secretary sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Siya rin ay naging Justice secretary at Solicitor General sa ilalim naman ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Fidel Ramos.

Si Nograles na isa sa mga ad-interim appointees ni Pangulong Duterte bilang CSC chairman, kung saan na-bypass dahil sa kawalan ng quorum ng Commission on Appointments (CA) nito lamang Hunyo, ay napili ni Marcos sa parehong posisyon.

Bago nagsilbi sa executive branch, si Nograles ay nagtrabaho bilang lawyer at Davao City representative ng tatlong termino.

Sa ilalim naman ng Duterte administration, si Nograles nagsilbi bilang acting Malacañang spokesperson, cabinet secretary, at co-chair ng Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (IATF).

“Maraming-maraming salamat po for this opportunity to continue our efforts to further professionalize the civil service, not only to make it world-class but, more importantly, to better serve our fellow Filipinos especially during these trying times,” ani Nograles sa isang statement.

“I am very excited to return to the Civil Service Commission and lead it into the better normal, together with its committed and dedicated public servants,” dagdag niya.

P1K dagdag-sahod sa kasambahay, aprub ng wage board — DOLE

Inaprubahan ng National Capital Region Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (NCR-TWPB) ang P1,000 dagdag sa buwanang sahod ng mga household workers o kasambahay sa Metro Manila sa gitna na rin ng pagtaas sa presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin.

“Our wage increase for our kasambahay of additional P1,000 a month, bringing the monthly take home of our kasambahays in NCR to P6,000 a month,” pahayag ni Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Director Rolly Francia sa isang interview.

Nasa tinatayang 200,000 domestic workers sa NCR ang inaasahan na mabenepisyuhan mula sa ibinabang minimum wage increase. Gayunman, ayon kay DOLE Secretary Silvestro Bello III, kulang at hindi pa rin sapat ang P1,000 dagdag sa kanilang monthly pay.

“In fact, sabi ko nga ‘yung increase to P6,000 eh, napakababa pa ‘yun kasi sabi ko nga ngayon, nagbabayad na ako ng 7 (kasambahay) eh ‘di ba kasi ‘yung pagkakaroon ng kasambahay is not a necessity. To me, it’s just a luxury eh,” saad ni Bello.

Ang desisyon ng NCR-TWPB ay nananatiling subject sa review ng National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWCP) na nakaiskedyul na sila ay magpulong ngayong Huwebes.

Kapag ang desisyon ay naaprubahan na, ilalathala ito sa pahayagan habang magiging epektibo naman matapos ang 15 araw. Batay sa datos mula sa Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA), mayroong 1,864,065 private household workers sa buong bansa.

Ayon sa DOLE, itong Hunyo ay epektibo na ang wage increase para sa mga domestic workers sa iba’t ibang rehiyon. Humigit-kumulang P500 hanggang P2,500 ang nadagdag sa minimum wage, depende ito sa rehiyon na nasasakop ng kasambahay.

Gayunman, kung ang isang employer ay hindi mag-comply sa itinakdang minimum wage, ang helper o kasambahay ay maaaring mag-file ng reklamo sa regional wage board o sa DOLE field offices.

“May rule ang NWPC d’yan ng payment prescribe a minimum wage ay subject sa penalty,” sabi ni Francia.

“Bibigyan namin siya ng compliance order. ‘Pag hindi sumunod, eh ‘di hahabulin namin ‘yung pera niya kung mayroon man siyang deposito, i-garnish namin... it will pass through judicial process din,” giit ni Bello.
