Walang kaalam-alam si Aiko Melendez na magpo-propose ang kanyang boyfriend na si Onemig Bondoc, na of all places ay sa sementeryo pa.
Sa harap mismo ng puntod ng yumaong ama ni Aiko na si Jimi Melendez, tuluyang nag-propose si Onemig sa aktres-pulitiko.
Sa umpisa ng YouTube (YT) vlog ni Uno na may title na The Proposal, sinabi nito na, “Today is a big day for me and for honey… magre-ready na ‘ko dahil exciting ang mangyayari.”
Gusto raw ni Aiko na maagang dumalaw sa puntod ng Papa Jimi niya kaysa sa November 1 na maraming tao. Birthday din pala ng dating matinee idol ang October 31 at ipapakilala na rin niya ang kanyang boyfriend.
Pagbabahagi ng aktres, “‘Di talaga ako sumasabay sa maraming tao, dahil ‘di ko nakakausap on a personal level ang Papa ko.
“And since gusto kitang ipakilala (Onemig), gusto ko naman ‘yung intimate ang pagpapakilala ko sa ‘yo.”
Marami silang napag-usapan ni Onemig sa almost 30-minute vlog, kaya parang hindi pumasok sa isip ni Aiko na may special na magaganap sa kanilang pag-uusap.
Sa pananaw ni Aiko, magiging happy ang kanyang ama dahil nasa tamang tao na siya ngayon.
Sa tanong ni Onemig kung nakita na ni Aiko ang “the greatest love of your life”, nag-agree naman ang aktres at sinabing “I believe so, kasi wala akong ibang dinala rito (puntod ng ama) kundi ikaw. Parang ikaw ang first na ipinakilala ko sa kanya. And who took time out to be here and meet him, ‘yun lang nakakalungkot na sa ganitong setting.”
May parte na naging emosyonal si Aiko nang mapag-usapan ang kanyang pamilya, na walang sawang nagbibigay ng pagmamahal at suporta sa kanya.
Hanggang sa magawi ang kuwentuhan sa pagbibigay ni Onemig ng bouquet of white flowers kay Aiko na terno ng ibinigay ng aktres sa kanyang Papa Jimi, kaya touched at happy siya kahit matagal pa ang monthsary nila.
Napunta rin ang tsikahan na after 29 years, sila pa rin pala sa huli.
Well, aminado rin ang dalawa na pareho na silang ready na makarating sa end of the road.
Doon na nga inilabas ni Onemig ang engagement ring at lumuhod, sabay sabing “Will you marry me?” At napa-“Oh, my God!” na lang si Aiko.
Bagama’t natawa at nagulat ang aktres-pulitiko, pinukpok niya agad si Onemig ng bouquet at sinabing, “Seryoso ‘yan?”
Natawa at naiyak si Aiko nang sagutin niya ng “Yes” ang proposal.
Ayon sa dating aktor, bago niya ginawa ang proposal ay kinausap muna niya ang mga taong mahalaga kay Aiko, kabilang ang ina nito, mga kapatid at dalawang anak. Ang huli nga niyang ‘kinausap’ ay ang Papa Jimi ni Aiko, dahilan kung bakit niya pinili na sa sementeryo mismo mag-propose.
Ilang oras nga ang lumipas ay nag-post si Aiko sa kanyang social media accounts.
“29 years (heart & ring emoji).
“Imagine waiting 29 years for a love story to finally find its way back home.
“Today, I am engaged to the man who has somehow been part of my story for almost three decades, Bondoc Onemig,” ani Aiko.
Pagpapatuloy niya, “Our love story was never a straight line. We met, we loved, and then life happened. We went our separate ways and lived the lives we were meant to live. We grew, we learned, we made choices, we faced our own battles, and we became different versions of ourselves.
“And maybe that was exactly how our story was supposed to unfold.
“Because when Onemig came back into my life, he didn’t come back at a time when either of us needed saving. He came back when both our worlds were finally calm, peaceful, and aligned.
“This time, there were no circumstances forcing us to make a choice. No pressure. No need to prove anything to anyone.
“Just two people who had lived enough, learned enough, and loved enough to finally understand what truly matters.
“And that is why I know in my heart that I am marrying this man for the right reasons.”
Dagdag pa niya, “Not because I have to. Not because circumstances tell me to. But because I genuinely, wholeheartedly choose him.
“
At this point in our lives, what matters most is how we feel when we’re together—the peace, the laughter, the friendship, the comfort, and the quiet certainty that we have found our way back to where we belong.
“We no longer live our lives worrying about what other people will say or think. We’ve reached a place where our happiness doesn’t need anyone else’s approval.
“Maybe fate separated us because we still had growing to do. Maybe destiny allowed us to live separate lives so that when our paths crossed again, we would finally recognize the kind of love we were ready for.”
Kuwento pa ni Aiko, “Some love stories begin with once upon a time.
“Ours began 29 years ago, took a very long detour, and somehow found its way back.
“And now, after all these years, I get to marry the one I waited for.
“The timing may not have been ours but perhaps, it was always God’s (heart & pray emoji).
“29 years later… I said YES (ring emoji).
“And this time, we choose each other not because we need to, but simply because we want to spend the rest of our lives together.
“Our love story truly is one for the books (heart emoji).”
At tila hindi na lamang second chance sa pag-ibig ang kuwento nina Onemig at Aiko—isang love story na makalipas ang halos tatlong dekada ay muling bumalik sa tamang panahon at sila na talaga ang magkasama sa end game.
