May property na sa Tagaytay City sina Paris Olympics double gold medalist gymnast Carlos Yulo maging si bronze medalist Aira Villegas.

Gayundin si Nesthy Petecio na bronze medalist boxer din sa Paris ay may ikalawang bahay sa siyudad na pinangasiwaan ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino. 

“They deserve these homes, they’re not only our Olympic heroes, all of them are national treasures,” ani Tolentino, kung saan ibinigay niya kahapon ang susi sa tatlong Olympic medalists sa Prime Peak Town House subdivision sa Barangay Silang Crossing West.

Napagkalooban si Yulo, ang double gold medalist sa men’s floor exercise at vault sa Paris ng two-storey home na may sukat na 500-square meter habang  kapitbahay niya si Villegas sa siyudad kung saan itinatayo rin ang unang  indoor at wood UCI-standard velodrome.

Ang house-and-lot ayon kay POC secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan ay may halagang P15 million na belated birthday gift  din ng POC para kay Yulo noong  Peb. 16.

Ang bagong two-storey home ni Villegas ay may sukat na 200-meter pareho rin kay Petecio tulad din ng ipinagkaloob kina  medalists Hidilyn Diaz Naranjo, Carlo Paalam at Eumir Felix Marcial sa Barangay San Jose nang maka-silver sa Tokyo 2020 Games. “I’m very grateful and feeling blessed to receive this house-and-lot and I’m on thankful how the POC helped us in our Olympic preparations in Paris,” ani Yulo sa reporters sa kanilang house blessing ni Fr. Eugenio Lopez. 

“This is what we've been doing since I became POC president—to keep the athletes inspired to win more medals for our country,” ani Tolentino.  

Gagawing bakasyunan ni Villegas ang Tagaytay City kapag wala sa training sa Baguio City habang si Petecio ay maninirahan na rito.

Nakatakdang katawanin ng koponan ng Creamline Cool Smashers at ng  Petro Gazz Angels ang Pilipinas sa darating na  Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women's Champions League.

Ito ang inanunsiyo ni Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) vice president at Premier Volleyball League (PVL) president Ricky Palou. Dapat sana ay ang tatanghaling  PVL 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference champion ang magiging kinatawan ng bansa sa torneo. Subalit dahil sa kanyang schedule nito ay hindi na kakayañing mahintay pa ang pagtatapos nito dahil sa  Marso 12  na ang AVC draw.

Kaya naman nagdesisyon silang ang kasalukuyang nangungunang dalawang koponan na lamang sa preliminaries ang lalahok. "No more, because the AVC called us and said they need the teams right away. There's still a drawing of lots on March 12 so we cannot wait until the end of the tournament. We talked to the teams and we said after the (preliminary) round, the top two will represent the Philippines and that's Creamline and Petro Gazz," paliwanag ni Palou.

Bilang  host, may pagkakataon ang Pilipinas na magkaroon ng dalawang koponan at tig-3 imports gaya ng iba pang mga bansang kalahok.

"Yes, (they accepted). We don't know what their plans are because they are entitled to three imports. But we don't know if they will get three imports, although Petro Gazz have (MJ) Phillips and Brooke (Van Sickle) they are considered as imports because they belong to the US federation, so they can still get one more. I don't know what the plans of Creamline are as of this time," wika pa ni Palou.

Ang AVC tournament ay nakatakdang ganapin sa Abril 20-27 sa PhilSports Arena sa Pasig City.

Nagawang makarekober ng University of the East mula sa malamyang simula at gitlain ang Zamboanga City, 22-25, 25-27, 25-20, 25-29 upang magkampeon sa Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Under-21 Championship National Men’s Division sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Kinailangang magising ang Warriors ayon kay Coach Jerome Guhit sa second frame matapos ang mabagal na laro sa opener.

“We don’t play that fast. I had to tell them to slow things down, think about the game plan and how we really play,” ayon kay Guhit. “I’m glad we were able to pull it off, the level of talent in this tournament is high and it’s a huge help in the development of our players.”

Itinanghal si Isaiah John Roca ng UE na Most Valuable Player sa limang araw na torneo na inorganisa ni PNVF head Ramon “Tats” Suzara.

Unang naka-bronze medal sa battle-for-3rd place ang One Silay Sports na nagigitla rin sa kasagupa, pero umiskor sa huli ng 22-25, 32-30, 25-20, 25-19 na panalo kontra Umingan.

“We’ve been having some problem getting to fighting form at the start of matches here, we’re not used to cold playing conditions,” saad ni coach Ronald Premaylon. “It was disappointing to drop the first set, but I had no doubt they would raise their game after the difficult start.”

Si Ike Andrew Barelia, 20, ang umatake ng 30 points, at si Vin Mark Canoy, 19 ng 17 markers. “I’m very happy with our performance this week because we were able to execute our plans,” ani Premaylon.

Nakagawa ang 16-anyos na si Michael Angelo Fernandez ng 18 points, habang si Milson Janrey Galzote, 20, ay may 17 points sa Umingan VC.
