Tara ng Tunisia out sa opening rival ng Alas sa FIVB Worlds

Magbabakbakan  ang African powerhouse Tunisia at Alas Pilipinas bilang opening-day rival sa FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2025 nang wala ang star player nila na si Wassim Ben Tara pero may ipinagmamalaki pa rin silang squad na handang gumawa ng ingay. 

Wala sa official roster si Tara, ang team’s leading scorer noong 2020 Tokyo Olympics nang ianunsiyo ng Tunisia ngayong buwan dahil sa ibang commitments subalit nariyan ang veteran aces na sina Hamza Nagga at Elyes Karamosli para sa world meet sa Set. 12-28 sa Smart Araneta Coliseum at MOA Arena.

Malaking tulong sina Nagga, ang 6-foot-2 opposite spiker, at ang 6-foot-4 outside hitter na si Karamosli kay Tara nang magkampeon noong 2021 African Men’s Volleyball Championship at mapalawig ang record bilang most successful African nation na may 11 titles. 

Ang bago nilang coach na si Camillo Placi ng Italy, veteran tactician na gumabay din sa Russia ay wagi ng bronze medal noong 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Maglalaban ang Philippines-Tunisia sa Pool A ng 7:30 p.m. sa Set.  12 sa MOA Arena, matapos ang makulay na opening ceremony tampok ang pagtatanghal ng K-pop group Boynextdoor at Karencitta.

Kasalukuyang No. 42, ang Tunisia ay pang-11 na best ranked country sa 32-team world joust sa Manila, ang pinakamalaking FIVB edition sa kasaysayan na inorganisa ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) at Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) president Ramon “Tats” Suzara. Nasa rank 16th ang Tunisia sa 2022 World.

Dumanas man ng ankle injury ang isa pang beteranong player ng Alas Pilipinas Men na si Marck Espejo, tulad ni Bryan Bagunas ngayon ay nakarekober na sa training camp niya sa tatlong training camp sa Europa at nitong huli ay sa  Portugal.

“I’m taking it day by day, training by training, as I work to catch up with the team after coming back from injury,” ani Espejo mula training camp sa Santo Tirso, siyudad sa Hilagang Portugal kahapon. 

Nakarekober na sina Espejo, 28 at Bagunas, 27 sa mga injuries at gamay na ang laro sa team na pinaghalong mga bata at beterano mula nang simulan ang training camp sa Morocco at Romania at nagtapos sa Portugal.   

Nagwagi ang Alas Pilipinas ranked No. 77 sa mundo ng dalawa sa tatlong tune-up matches kontra national team world no. 81 Morocco at nakalamang ng bahagya sa laro sa Romania.  

Ito ang potensiyal na senyales na malapit na ang Alas Pilipinas sa kanilang misyon sa training camp para sa mas malakas na laro sa FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship sa Set. 12 to 28 sa Smart Araneta Coliseum at MOA Arena.

“It’s well-balanced team [Alas] for long-term growth,” saad ni Espejo. “We have experienced veterans and kuyas who provide leadership, and younger players with fresh legs and a lot of energy.” 

 “It’s a huge honor and opportunity to be part of the world championship—playing for your country feels different from playing for your club. I’ll make the most out of it because this is a once in a lifetime experience.” 

“This is a huge opportunity, not just for me, but for the growth of men’s volleyball in the Philippines, I won’t take this opportunity for granted,” aniya.

'Set Na Natin 'To inilunsad ng 'Pinas sa FIVB Men's World

Nagsama-sama  ang top sports executives maging ang fans sa MOA Arena Music Hall upang ilunsad ang sigaw na logo isang buwan bago ang pagbubukas ng FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2025.

Sinamahan si Ramon “Tats” Suzara, executive VP ng volleyball’s world governing body FIVB, nina POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino at PSC chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio upang maging event partners kasama ang mga miyembro ng diplomatic corps, working staff, benefactors, volunteers at fans upang maisigaw ang promosyon ng elite sports meet.

Simbolo ng pagiging ating Pinoy, paniniwala at kahandaan, iniukit ang battle cry na “Set Na Natin ’To” bilang paghahanda ng bansa sa pag-host ng 32-team tournament tampok ang apat na mahuhusay na defending champion Italy, world No. 1 at Volleyball Nations League titlist Poland, Brazil at Slovenia mula Set. 12 hanggang 28 sa Smart Araneta Coliseum at MOA Arena.

“Volleyball fans, we are very grateful. We’ve poured everything into this, battled through every obstacle to deliver this event, and we expect to see you all during the matches,” ani Suzara.

Nanguna si Eya Laure ng Alas Women sa oath-taking ng volunteers, maging  sina team captain Jia de Guzman, SEA VLeague Best Libero Justine Jazareno, Dell Palomata at iba pang miyembro ng Alas Women ay nakibahagi sa excitement ng fans. 

Marami ang lumahok sa iba't ibang aktibidad ng  national teams sa MOA maging ang mga embahada ng 31 bansa sa world championship. Mascots sa FIVB-MWCH ina Koolog, Hataw at Kidlat.  

“We have to do this so well, we have to do this telling the world that this is the Philippines, we can host properly, this is the showcase of our nation, we are a very beautiful sports tourism destination,” ani Gregorio.

“We’re very excited for this event. It’s really very hard to bid and to host these events. Magsama-sama po tayo for this event,” panawagan ni Tolentino.
