Japan at US, sanib-puwersa vs. sa mga problema sa China

Mas pinatatag pa ng Japan at US ang kanilang alyansa laban sa mga banta ng pananakop at upang masiguro ang seguridad at kaligtasan ng dalawang bansa.

Binisita ni Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga si US President Joe Biden noong Biyernes at kabilang sa kanilang mga napag-usapan ay ang laban kontra-COVID-19.

Nagkasundo rin ang dalawang bansa sa seguridad at pagkakaisa upang ayusin ang isyu sa East China Sea, South China Sea at ang nuclear program ng North Korea.

Pahayag pa ni Biden, "We're going to work together to prove that democracies can still compete and win in the 21st century.

"We committed to working together to take on the challenges from China and on issues like the East China Sea, the South China Sea as well as North Korea.”

Saad naman ni Suga, "We agreed to oppose any attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion in the East and South China seas and intimidation of others in the region.

"Freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law are the universal values that link our alliance.”

China, binuweltahan ang US sa isyu sa WPS

Bumuwelta ang Chinese Embassy, Manila sa United States kaugnay ng pagsuporta nito sa Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea matapos mamataan ang diumano’y 220 maritime militia vessels ng China sa Julian Felipe Reef noong March 7.

Sa official Twitter account ng Chinese Embassy Manila, mababasa ang tweet ng isang news site na: “US Embassy on Chinese ships at Juan Felipe Reef (Whitsun): Chinese boats have been mooring in this area for many months in ever increasing numbers, regardless of the weather.

We stand with the Philippines, our oldest treaty ally in Asia.”

Pahayag naman ng Chinese Embassy, “The United States is not a party to the South China Sea issue. Fanning flames and provoking confrontation in the region will only serve the selfish interests of individual country and undermine the regional peace and stability.”

Saad pa ng embahada, "Both China and the Philippines are sovereign and independent countries. We have the will, wisdom and ability to properly handle relevant issues through bilateral channels.” Una nang pinabulaanan ng China na "maritime militia" ang mga naturang vessels at nanatili lamang daw ang mga barko sa reef dahil sa “rough sea condition.” Samantala, umaasa ang Malacañang na madadaan sa usapan ang isyu ng bansa sa China.

P24-M, donasyon ng US sa ‘Pinas para sa measles, rubella at polio vaccine

Nagbigay ang United States ng mahigit sa P24 million donasyon sa Pilipinas para sa immunization program laban sa measles, rubella, at polio.

Sa isang statement ng US Embassy na inilabas ngayong Biyernes, ang gobyerno ng Amerika sa pamamagitan ng US Agency for International Development (USAID) katuwang ang ating pamahalaan at iba pang development partners ay naglunsad ng ikalawang bahagi ng Measles-Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity.

Ang MR OPV SIA Phase 2, ay follow-up sa isinagawa ng gobyerno na Phase 1 immunization campaign noong nakaraang taon, kung saan nakabilang dito ang buong Visayas, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, at rehiyon ng CALABARZON.

Target ng pamahalaan na mabakunahan ang 4.8 milyong mga bata na nasa 5-anyos laban sa polio, at 5.1 milyong mga bata naman sa pagitan ng siyam at 59-buwang-gulang laban sa measles at rubella.

Sa pakikipagtulungan ng UNICEF, kasama ng USAID assistance ang technical expertise, logistics support at community engagement para sa kampanya ng vaccination.

Kaisa si USAID Philippines Mission Director Lawrence Hardy II at mga representatives mula sa gobyerno tulad nina Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, Cavite Rep. Luis Ferrer IV at General Trias Mayor Antonio Ferrer sa paglulunsad ng pambansang kampanya ng immunization program sa General Trias City Medicare Hospital sa Cavite ngayong January 29.

“Vaccination saves lives and prevents disabilities from such diseases. These vaccines can give our vulnerable children a good start at life so they can grow into healthy and productive adults. Above all, no child should be left behind,” ani Duque.

Samantala, nanawagan si Hardy sa mga local leaders na suportahan ang isinasagawang immunization programs at himukin ang mga magulang at guardians ng mga bata na pabakunahan ang mga ito laban sa nakamamatay na sakit.

“Our efforts to protect Filipino children from these diseases will enable them to attend school, participate in community activities, and contribute fully to society,” ani Hardy.
