Isinusulong ni Senator Leila de Lima ang ‘paid leave’ para sa mga empleyadong magkaka-Covid, batay sa ilalim ng Senate Bill No. 2148 na isinumite niya sa Senado habang siya ay nakakulong.
Saklaw nito ang bayad na araw sa loob ng 10 working days ng bawat qualified employees na tatamaan ng COVID-19.
Aniya, “It is only right that these employees be provided with the incentive of having paid leaves when they are confirmed to be COVID-19 positive and they need to undergo quarantine or isolation.”
Dagdag pa niya, “With the colossal and detrimental effects of the pandemic, employees are forced to stay in a job that is low paying despite health hazards due to the virus and consequences of contractualization… Those who are gainfully employed, while fortunate, struggle to do their jobs by personally reporting to their workplace despite risk of acquiring the virus on the way to and from work and even in the workplace itself.”
Sa ngayon ay umabot na sa 1,054,983 ang mga naitalang kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa, kung saan 8,346 ang nagpositibo, kaya umakyat na sa 71,472 ang active cases.
