Isinailalim sa lockdown ang San Agustin Church sa Intramuros, Manila matapos mamatay sa COVID-19 ang parish priest nito ngayong Linggo, March 21.


Kinilala ang naturang pari na si R.P.FR. Arnold Sta. Maria Cañoza, 45-anyos.


Pahayag ng Archdiocesan Shrine of N.S. de la Consolacion y Correa - San Agustin Church sa kanilang official Facebook page, “San Agustin Church and Convento de San Agustin Intramuros WILL BE ON LOCKDOWN STARTING TODAY (21 March).


“Access to the church and convent will be restricted, and operations at the Parish Office will also be suspended until further notice.”


Dagdag pa nila, “These recent developments are due to the death of our dear parish priest, R.P. FR. ARNOLD STA. MARIA CAÑOZA, OSA from COVID-19.


“We ask for your understanding and prayers.” Kumpirmasyon naman ng Augustinian Vicariate of the Orient, “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that, according to the report of the Local Prior of Convento de San Agustin - Intramuros, R.P.FR. ARNOLD STA. MARIA CAÑOZA, OSA, assigned at the Convento de San Agustin as PARISH PRIEST of Archdiocesan Shrine of N.S. de la Consolación y Correa - San Agustin Church, PASSED AWAY due to COVID-19 on 21 March 2021. He was 45 years old and had been a professed religious in the Order for 14 years.”

Isang dormitoryo sa Quezon City na ginamit ng manning agency ang isinailalim sa special-concern lockdown matapos magpositibo sa COVID-19 test ang 43 residente nito.


Sa inisyal na report, anim na residente lamang na nasa Barangay Roxas District dormitory ang nagpositibo sa test sa coronavirus. Subalit nang magsagawa ang Quezon City health officials ng test sa lahat ng 130 dorm residents, lumabas na 36 na iba pa ang positive sa virus.


"Kung nagsabi sila agad sa atin, naipa-monitor agad natin ang mga tao doon, na bigyan sila ng karapatang paggagamot at saka ‘yung quarantine, nagawa natin agad," ani Bgy. Chairman Dr. Carmela Gotladera. "Ang dating, parang no intention of reporting," dagdag ng kapitana.


Gayunman, ang mga nadiskubreng bagong COVID-19 cases ay mga asymptomatic at nananatiling naka-quarantine sa dormitory. Ang mga nagpakita naman ng sintomas ay nai-transfer na sa quarantine facilities.


Habang naghihintay ang ibang residente ng resulta ng kanilang COVID-19 tests, pinag-aaralan na ng mga opisyal na palawigin ang lockdown sa dormitoryo hanggang 14 na araw.


"This could have been avoided kung nagpa-follow sila ng minimum health protocol na ipinapasunod sa ating lahat," ani QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit head na si Dr. Rolly Cruz.


"So, obviously, meron silang kapabayaan sa kanilang ginagawang set-up sa kanilang agency," dagdag ni Cruz.


Wala namang ibinigay na pahayag at komento ang manning agency.

Isinailalim sa lockdown ang central office ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa Pasig City simula March 18 hanggang March 24 upang makapagsagawa ng disinfection.


Saad pa ng DepEd, “Although all Central Office personnel will be on a work-from-home arrangement during the said week, the public can be assured that operations of the Department will be functional without any interruption. Public services shall continue through virtual and alternative means.


“We enjoin our personnel to refrain from leaving their homes in this period for their safety.”


Nagpaalala rin ang DepEd sa publiko na sundin ang mga health protocols ngayong panahon ng pandemya. Saad pa ng DepEd, “We must not let our guard down against the virus.”
