Binawi ni Quezon City Rep. Precious Hipolito Castelo ang ipinasang bill tungkol sa pagbibigay ng pahintulot sa Pangulo na kumuha ng temporary successor mula sa miyembro ng gabinete kung sakali mang hindi kaya ng mga nakalinyang successor nito.

Sa sulat na inilabas ni Castelo, ini-request nito ang “withdrawal and permanent archiving” sa House Bill No. 4062 o “Presidential Succession Act” na ipinasa noong August 2019.

Dagdag pa sa sulat, “Please take note that said bill has not been acted upon by the Committee on Constitutional Amendments since the date of its filing.”

Una nang sinabi ni Castelo na ang desisyong ito ay para mabura ang impression na ito ay sumusuporta sa pagbalewala sa constitutional line ng succession sa presidency.

Sa ilalim ng 1987 Constitution, ang nakalinyang pumalit sa Presidente ay ang Vice President, Senate President at House Speaker lamang.

Bukod pa rito, sinabi rin ni Castelo na itong bill na ito ay hindi para tanggalin ang linya ng succession. Aniya, “I am for respecting that provision of the Constitution and the line of succession to the highest office.”

Nagpasa rin ng kaparehong bill si Senator Panfilo Lacson sa upper chamber.

P-Duterte kay Japan PM Abe: “A true friend closer than a brother”

Ikinalungkot ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagbibitiw sa puwesto ni Prime Minister Shinzo Abe ng Japan dahil sa health issues na kinakaharap nito.

Saad ni P-Duterte, "It is with much regret that I learned of Prime Minister Abe Shinzo's resignation.

“Through many years of our engagement, I have seen a leader with a bold vision and firm determination to do what was best for his country and our region.

“The bilateral relations between the Philippines and Japan, now a Strategic Partnership, greatly flourished during his tenure.

“What we have worked for and achieved together lays the foundation for an even closer friendship and cooperation between our countries in the future.

Pahayag pa ni P-Duterte, “He is - to me and the Filipino people - a true friend closer than a brother.

“To Prime Minister Abe, I pray for your speedy and full recovery!”
