Bumuhos ang pakikiramay at pakikidalamhati ng mga opisyal ng bansa sa pagpanaw ni dating Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III sa edad na 61 ngayong Huwebes.


Una nang naglabas ng pakikidalamhati si Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen at aniya, "It is with profound sadness that I learned this morning of the passing of former President Benigno S. Aquino III. I knew him to be a kind man, driven by his passion to serve our people, diligent in his duties, and with an avid and consuming curiosity about new knowledge and the world in general.


“I saw him carry his title with dignity and integrity. It was an honor to have served with him. He will be missed.”


Pahayag naman ni Vice-President Leni Robredo, “Nakakadurog ng puso ang balitang wala na si P-Noy. Mabuti siyang kaibigan at tapat na pangulo.


“He tried to do what was right, even when it was not popular. Tahimik at walang pagod siyang nagtrabaho para makatulong sa marami. He will be missed.


“Nakikiramay ako sa kanyang pamilya.”


Saad naman ni dating Vice-President Jejomar Binay, “Noynoy and I may have had political differences during the last few years of his term, but that will not diminish the many years of friendship between our families.


“My deepest condolences to the family. God speed, Pareng Noy.”

Samantala, maging ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Davao City ay nagpahayag din ng pakikidalamhati sa pagpanaw ni ex-P-Noy.

Itinuturing na paglabag umano sa batas ang ginawa ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nang tanggapin ang mamahaling regalong ibinigay sa kanya tulad ng isang bahay, ayon kay Tony La Vina, dating dean ng Manila-based Ateneo School of Government.


Matatandaang binanggit ni Pangulong Duterte na tumanggap siya ng isang bahay mula kay Pastor Apollo Quiboloy ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ noong siya ay mayor pa ng Davao City at magmamay-ari lamang siya nito kapag nagretiro na sa pulitika.


Gayunman, bilang government official, dagdag ni La Vina, dapat na i-observe ang “no gifts” policy. “Anything substantial, ‘di mo siya puwedeng tanggapin while nasa gobyerno ka. It doesn’t matter kahit sabihin mo na technically magiging sa 'yo lang sa pagkatapos ng term mo,” ani La Vina sa isang virtual interview ngayong Huwebes.


“That violates not just the spirit of the law but the law itself. ‘Di naman sinasabi ng law na kailangan ‘yung regalo na sa 'yo na. Kung ang intent na sa 'yo na, violation po ‘yun ng (Anti)-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act,” saad pa ni La Vina.


Maaari umanong maharap sa kaso si P-Duterte matapos ang kanyang termino dahil sa paglabag sa batas habang si Quiboloy ay posibleng sampahan din ng reklamo.


“Hindi naman ibig sabihin na kung transparent ka, tama na. ‘Di lang siya puwedeng sampahan ng kaso ngayon because may immunity ang President,” sabi ni La Vina.


“No gifts policy dapat. Every government official, politician should have a 'no gifts policy,'” diin pa ni La Vina.

Nalagpasan ng Davao City ang Quezon City sa pagkakaroon ng pinakamataas na kaso ng COVID-19 sa isang araw.


Ayon kay Dr. Guido David ng OCTA Research ngayong Martes, hindi pa nila matukoy ang dahilan ng biglaang paglobo ng kaso ng COVID-19 sa Mindanao.


Aniya, “Today, nalagpasan na ng Davao City 'yung Quezon City sa seven-day average. ‘Yung average ng Davao City, 213 cases per day. Sa Quezon City, 207.


“So Davao City na ‘yung pinakamaraming average number of cases per day.”


Kabilang umano sa mga lugar sa Mindanao na ikinababahala ng OCTA Research dahil sa pagkakaroon ng mataas na kaso ng COVID-19 ay ang Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Koronadal, Cotabato at Davao.


Nakapagtala umano ng 54% na pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 ang Davao City noong nakaraang linggo, ayon pa sa OCTA.


Samantala, isinailalim sa modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) ang Davao City simula noong June 5 hanggang June 20.
