Nag-isyu ng isang red tide notice ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) nitong Biyernes sa maraming coastal areas, kung saan ang mga shellfish ay nagpositibo sa test sa paralytic shellfish poison na mataas pa sa pinapayagang limit nito.

Base sa latest shellfish bulletin data ng BFAR, lahat ng uri ng shellfish at acetes o kilala sa tawag na alamang ay hindi ligtas na kainin na makukuha sa mga sumusunod na lugar:

• Coastal waters ng Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Hermosa, Orani, Abucay, at Samal sa Bataan

• Coastal waters ng Milagros sa Masbate

• Coastal waters ng Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol

• Carigara Bay sa Leyte

• Coastal waters ng Leyte, Leyte

• Coastal waters ng Guiuan at Matarinao Bay sa Eastern Samar

• Dumanquilas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur

• Litalit Bay, San Benito sa Surigao del Norte

• Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur

“Fish, squids, shrimps and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” pahayag ng BFAR.

Samantala, ayon sa ahensiya, ang coastal waters ng Baroy sa Lanao del Norte sa ngayon ay free-red tide na.

Nagbabala ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) sa publiko matapos itaas sa red tide alert ang mga coastal areas sa siyam na probinsiya.

Kabilang sa mga lugar na nakitaang positibo sa paralytic shellfish poison o toxic red tide na lagpas sa regulatory limit ang coastal waters sa Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol, at sa Biliran island.

Apektado rin ng red tide ang coastal waters sa Daram island, Maqueda, Cambatutay, Irong-irong at San Pedro bays sa Western Samar,

gayundin sa Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City sa Leyte, Matarinao Bay sa Eastern Samar, Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur, coastal waters ng Baroy sa Lanao del Norte at Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur.

Mayroon ding mga coastal waters sa Bataan ang apektado ng red tide toxin kabilang ang Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, hermosa, Orani, Abucay at Samal.

Paalala ng BFAR, lahat ng uri ng shellfish at alamang na makukuha mula sa mga nabanggit na lugar ay hindi ligtas kainin maliban na lamang sa mga isda, pusit, hipon, at crabs basta siguruhing sariwa, nahugasang mabuti, at natanggal ang lamang loob bago lutuin.

Ilang lugar sa Bohol, Leyte, at iba pang lalawigan sa Visayas at Mindanao ang nagpositibo sa test sa red tide toxin, ayon sa pahayag ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

Base sa isang advisory ng BFAR, ang mga shellfish na nakolekta sa coastal waters o baybayin ng mga sumusunod na lugar ay nakitaan ng pagkakaroon ng paralytic shellfish poison o toxic red tide na lumagpas pa sa regulatory limit:

• Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol;

• Villareal, Cambatutay, at San Pedro Bays sa Western Samar;

• Carigara Bay at coastal waters ng Leyte sa Leyte;

• Matarinao Bay sa Eastern Samar;

• Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur;

• Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur.

Gayundin, ang mga lugar na lumabas na positibo sa red tide toxin ay coastal waters ng Baroy sa Lanao del Norte; coastal waters ng Daram Island, Maqueda, at Irong-Irong Bays sa Western Samar; Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City sa Leyte; coastal waters ng Biliran Island.

“All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from these areas are NOT SAFE for human consumption,” pahayag ng BFAR.
