9 na US bases, pasok sa ‘Pinas.. Sasot kay P-BBM: Tuta ka ng Kano!

Nagbabala ang Foreign Policy Analyst na si Sass Rogando Sasot na posibleng maging target ng China ang Pilipinas kung matutuloy ang pagbibigay ng karagdagan pang access sa militar ng Amerika sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas.

Ayon kay Sasot, kung itutok ng China ang missile arsenal nito sa mga lokasyon kung nasaan ang puwersa ng Estados Unidos, tiyak damay ang Pilipinas.

“So crudely speaking, we are another target for China in order to exhaust its missile arsenal. So, can President Marcos, Jr. tell us how many of us will die? How our economy would look like after the dust settled? How are we going to rebuild this republic?” ani Sasot sa Pandesal Forum sa Kamuning Bakery Cafe sa Quezon City.

Giit pa ni Sasot kay Marcos, hindi lang sa ekonomiya ito puwedeng magdulot ng matinding epekto kundi maging sa maraming buhay na maaaring mawala.

Ani Sasot, hindi Amerika o China ang pagpipilian dito kundi ang pagiging tau-tauhan o panindigan ang soberenya.

“Aren’t we supposed to be having a public debate whether this is the future we want to have for our country? Does President Marcos, Jr. have the guts to stand up to the United States of America and say ‘no’, I will not allow the Philippines to be used in your war? Shouldn’t Congress be intervening about this? The choice is not between China or the United States, but between being a pawn and being a sovereign,” dagdag pa ni Sasot.

Apela niya kay P-BBM, maging bayani at panindigan ang para sa kabutihan ng mamamayang Pilipino.

“Heroes are often those who emerged triumphant after a tragedy. But the greater hero is the one who prevented a tragedy from happening in the first place. Mr. President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. be that hero for our country. Huwag ka nang magpaka-tuta,” pagtatapos ni Sasot.

Matatandaan na upang lalong mapaigting ang pagpapatupad ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) ay nagkasundo ang Pilipinas at Estados Unidos na magtatag ng apat na military base ng sundalong Kano sa bansa.

Kasalukuyang may limang Philippine military bases sa ilalim ng EDCA, kabilang na rito ang Benito Ebuen Air Base sa Cebu, Lumbia Airport sa Cagayan de Oro, Fort Magsaysay sa Nueva Ecijia, Antonio Bautista Air Base sa Palawan at Basa Air Base sa Pampanga.

Tuloy ang alyansa ng ‘Pinas-US… P-BBM at President Biden, nagkausap na

Sa unang pagkakataon, nagkausap na sina Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos at US President Joe Biden sa bilateral meeting sa New York City ng Huwebes (Biyernes sa Pilipinas).

Kasalukuyang nasa US si Pangulong Marcos para sa pagdalo nito sa United Nations General Assembly kasabay na rin ng kanyang working visit.

Kabilang sa mga napag-usapan ng dalawang lider ay ang pagpapalakas pa sa relasyon ng Pilipinas at Amerika, mga isyu sa ASEAN at ang freedom of navigation and overflight sa South China Sea sa harap ng kagustuhan ng China na kontrolin ang nasabing bahagi ng karagatan.

“The leaders discussed the situation in the South China Sea and underscored their support for freedom of navigation and overflight and the peaceful resolution of disputes,” pahayag ng White House makaraan ang pulong nina Pangulong Marcos at President Biden.

Pinasalamatan naman ni Biden si P-BBM sa pagtutol umano nito sa isinasagawa ng Russia sa Ukraine. Gayundin, ang pagdepensa sa inaangking teritoryo sa South China Sea.

“The role of the United States in maintaining the peace in our region is something that is much appreciated by all the countries in the region and the Philippines especially,” saad ni P-BBM.

Batid nang magkaalyado ang Pilipinas at Amerika nang napakatagal na panahon at kinikilala rin ang daang taon na relasyon ng dalawang bansa.

“We feel that we are especially fortunate because we have very strong foundation of a very long relationship and the strong relationships on various facets not only political, not only diplomatic, but also economic,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

“We continue to look to the United States for that continuing partnership and the maintenance of peace in our region,” ani pa ni P-BBM. Binanggit naman ng White House ang importansya ng alyansa ng US at Pilipinas.

“The leaders reflected on the importance of the US-Philippines alliance. President Biden reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to the defense of the Philippines,” giit ng White House.

Labis naman ang pasasalamat ni P-BBM kay Biden sa malaking tulong ng Amerika sa Pilipinas sa paglaban sa COVID-19, lalo na sa pagbibigay nito ng mga bakuna sa kasagsagan ng pandemya.

“We had the provision of up to 35 -- almost 36 million doses of vaccines very early on, ahead of some of the other countries,” sabi ni Pangulong Marcos. “And for that we are very, very grateful.”

P-BBM, inimbita sa Amerika ni US Pres. Biden — Romualdez

Inimbitahan ni US President Joe Biden si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na bumisita sa Washington sa Amerika, ito ang kinumpirma ni Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez ngayong Linggo.

Gayunman aniya, wala pang iskedyul na itinakda para pumunta si P-BBM.

“No schedule. Invitation as soon as schedule mutually agreed upon ‘by their teams,’” pahayag ni Romualdez sa GMA News.

Ayon sa ambassador, isang letter of invitation ang ibinigay kay Pangulong Marcos ni Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff.

Si Emhoff ang nanguna sa presidential delegation na ipinadala ni Biden para dumalo sa inagurasyon ni P-BBM na ginanap noong Hunyo 30 sa National Museum of Fine Arts sa Manila.

Hiningan naman ng komento ang kampo ni Pangulong Marcos, subalit wala pa silang inilalabas na pahayag hinggil dito.
