PCSO provides mobility aids, medical equipment to San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro

MANDALUYONG CITY — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over mobility aids and medical equipment to the Municipality of San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro, on May 20, 2026, at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles formally handed over the donation to San Teodoro Mayor Karen Ponce-Miranda.

The donated items included 20 wheelchairs, canes, blood pressure apparatuses, nebulizers, and pulse oximeters, as well as 10 glucometers. These will be distributed to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and indigent residents of San Teodoro.

Mayor Ponce-Miranda thanked GM Robles and PCSO for the assistance, noting that the donated items will provide much-needed support to beneficiaries with limited access to medical and assistive devices.

She added that the mobility aids and medical equipment will help improve the recipients’ mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.

The donation forms part of PCSO’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, which aims to deliver responsive health and social support to underserved communities nationwide.

The lucky bettor hit the winning combination 01-03-24-18-11-10, marking a significant milestone in his 25-year journey as a loyal lotto patron.

According to the winner, his personal number combination was inspired by meaningful family memories, particularly the upcoming 100th birthday celebration of his grandmother.

The winner shared that his persistence in playing the same set of numbers through the years eventually paid off, giving him renewed hope after enduring difficult times brought about by a failed business venture that left him heavily indebted and emotionally burdened for years.

He said the jackpot prize would allow him to finally settle all his financial obligations and start anew during what he described as his “twilight years.” Beyond paying debts, the senior citizen plans to spend more quality time with his family and invest in small businesses involving food, transportation, and retail.

PCSO Brings Medical and Disaster Preparedness Aid to Eastern Samar Communities

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has continued its commitment to helping communities in Eastern Samar through a two-day turnover of medical devices, mobility aids, and disaster preparedness equipment under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program.

Led by PCSO Director Janet De Leon-Mercado, the distribution activities were held in the municipalities of Giporlos on May 20, 2026, and Quinapondan on May 21.

During the turnover ceremony held at the Giporlos Civic Center, the local government of Giporlos received various mobility aids and medical devices including wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, blood pressure apparatus, nebulizers, glucometers, thermal scanners, pulse oximeters, and hygiene kits.

The assistance was personally received by Mayor Gilbert Go, Vice Mayor Christopher Go, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Marlyn Capanan, MSWDO Rosario Abunales, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan. According to Mayor Go, the donated equipment will greatly help bedridden patients, senior citizens, and other vulnerable sectors in the municipality.

PCSO Donates Medical Devices to 2^nd District of South Cotabato

MANDALUYONG CITY — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) donated medical devices to the 2nd District of South Cotabato to support the health needs of vulnerable sectors.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles formally turned over the donation to South Cotabato 2nd District Representative Ferdinand Hernandez during a ceremony held on May 20, 2026, at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City.

The donation consisted of 20 units each of glucometers, thermal scanners, blood pressure apparatuses, pulse oximeters, and nebulizers. These will be distributed to constituents, indigent families, and persons with disabilities in South Cotabato.

The initiative forms part of PCSO’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, which provides tangible assistance to communities across the country, particularly those with limited access to basic health support.

Through this effort, PCSO continues to uphold its commitment to inclusive and responsive public service, ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.

PhilHealth, IBP nagkasundo na patatagin ang proteksyon, karapatan, at legal na suporta para sa mga miyembro

Nilagdaan ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) at Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ang dalawang taong Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) na naglalayong patatagin ang proteksyon ng mga miyembro, isulong ang karapatan ng mga pasyente, at palawakin ang access sa legal na suporta para sa mga Pilipino sa ilalim ng programang Universal Health Care (UHC).

Pinangunahan nina PhilHealth President at Chief Executive Officer Dr. Edwin M. Mercado at IBP National President at Chairperson ng 27th Board of Governors Atty. Allan G. Panolong ang seremonya ng paglagda na ginanap sa IBP Building sa Lungsod ng Pasig.

Ilan sa mga napagkasunduan ay ang paglulunsad ng mga magkasanib na kampanya na mas mapalawak ang kaalaman ng mga mamamayan ukol sa kanilang mga benepisyo at karapatan sa ilalim ng UHC Act.

Magkakaloob din ng libreng legal na serbisyo para sa mga kwalipikadong miyembro, partikular na ang mga mahihirap at nasa marginalized na sektor, kaugnay ng kanilang mga benepisyo at claims sa kalusugan.

Isa pa sa mahalagang parte ng partnership ay ang pagsugpo sa pandaraya at pagpapalakas ng polisiya. Magtutulungan ang dalawang institusyon sa pagbuo ng mga patakaran sa kalusugan, pagsasanay para sa mga abogado ng PhilHealth, at mga hakbang laban sa fraud o pandaraya.

Ayon pa sa dalawang ahensya, pagbubutihin ang mga mekanismo sa pagresolba ng mga hidwaan o reklamo upang masigurong mabilis at patas na matutugunan ang mga hinaing ng mga miyembro.

Maynilad begins partial operation of raw water reservoir, strengthens supply buffer during dry season

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has begun partial operation of its raw water reservoir at the La Mesa Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Quezon City, enabling the storage of up to 67 million liters of raw water to help stabilize supply during the dry season.

The initial utilization of one converted lagoon within the La Mesa WTP supports Maynilad’s efforts to improve operational flexibility, particularly during periods when inflows from the Angat–Ipo Dam system are reduced due to lower rainfall or allocation adjustments.

The project—targeted for full completion by June 2026—involves the repurposing of former sludge lagoons within the La Mesa compound into a six-meter-deep impounding reservoir capable of storing up to 200 million liters of raw water.

Previously used for sludge handling in the treatment process, the lagoons have been converted into a dedicated raw water storage facility, marking a shift from internal process use to system-level supply support.

Once fully operational, the reservoir will provide La Mesa Water Treatment Plant 1 with an additional raw water buffer, enabling more stable plant operations and helping sustain water service during periods of reduced inflow.

The facility may also serve as a settling basin during periods of elevated turbidity, allowing suspended particles in raw water to settle naturally before entering the treatment process. This helps support more efficient treatment operations during challenging raw water conditions.

“This facility enhances our ability to manage raw water variability and maintain stable treatment operations, particularly during periods of lower inflow or higher turbidity,” said Maynilad Chief Operating Officer Christopher Jaime T. Lichauco.

Once completed, the facility will be Maynilad’s first dedicated raw water storage reservoir, complementing its 38 existing reservoirs for treated water across the West Zone.

Maynilad continues to invest in strategic infrastructure projects that strengthen system resilience and ensure reliable water service for the communities it serves.

Maynilad operates the largest water concession by population served within a single concession area in the Philippines. It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the municipalities of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
