Sa paggunita ng Labor Day noong May 1, muling pinatunayan ng SM Supermalls ang kanilang pangako na magbigay ng mga oportunidad sa trabaho para sa mga Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng pagho-host ng sabay-sabay na mga job fair sa buong bansa. Sa pakikipagtulungan sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Public Employment Service Offices (PESO), Local Government Units (LGUs), mga asosasyon ng industriya, at SM Retail, nagbigay-daan ang SM Supermalls sa mga pangyayaring ito bilang bahagi ng kanilang mga pagsisikap na makatulong sa komunidad.

Bilang isa sa mga pinakamalaking tagapaglikha ng trabaho sa Pilipinas, nakatuon ang SM Supermalls sa pagbawas ng kawalan ng trabaho sa pamamagitan ng pagdaraos ng lingguhang job fairs sa kanilang malawak na network ng mga mall. Sa mismong job fair noong May 1 lamang, tinanggap ng SM Supermalls ang halos 20,000 mga naghahanap ng trabaho, kung saan isang malaking bilang ang nakatanggap ng on-the-spot na mga alok ng trabaho, na umaabot sa higit sa 2,000 bagong empleyadong mga indibidwal. Ipinakikita nito ang epektibong mga inisyatibong ito sa pagkokonekta ng mga indibidwal sa mga agarang oportunidad sa trabaho.

Prepare to be swept away on a global journey of unparalleled pyrotechnic brilliance and musical harmony  as the night sky ignites with the dazzling displays of nine powerhouse nations in the 11th Philippine  International Pyromusical Competition (PIPC).

This eagerly awaited event returns after four years, reclaiming its throne as the grandest spectacle of its  kind in the Philippines and beyond. Against the breathtaking backdrop of SM Mall of Asia, this year's PIPC  promises an extravaganza like no other, reaffirming its status as the longest-running pyromusical  competition in the Philippines and a world-renowned exhibition that draws enthusiasts from every corner  of the globe. 

Every Saturday from May 11 to June 8, 2024, at 7:30 PM, the world's most skilled pyrotechnic artisans  from the Netherlands, Portugal, China, South Korea, Australia, Belgium, Germany, and the United  Kingdom will converge to vie for supremacy in a spectacle that transcends borders and ignites the  imagination. Renowned for their innovation and showmanship, some of these countries have earned a  reputation as crowd favorites, ensuring that their performances are the epitome of excellence and a  benchmark for pyrotechnic mastery. 

As each Saturday unfolds, attendees will be treated to a kaleidoscope of creative expression, with a different  country taking center stage each week. From the spellbinding precision of Portugal to the mesmerizing  choreography of South Korea, and the explosive energy of Australia to the elegant finesse of the United  Kingdom, each nation will showcase its unique style, leaving spectators awe-inspired and spellbound.  Additionally, each Saturday features two shows battling out for pyro supremacy, with audiences on the edge  of their seats as the skies light up with a symphony of colors and sounds.  

While the Philippines, as the host country, will not participate in the competitive aspect of the event,  attendees can still look forward to exhibition shows during the opening (May 11) and closing (June 8) nights.  These special showcases will celebrate the rich pyrotechnic heritage and artistic talent of the Philippines,  offering a glimpse into the country's unique contributions to the world of fireworks and music.

SM Cares, ASP march towards a more Autism-OK Philippines at Angels Walk for Autism 2024

SM Cares recently reaffirmed its commitment to promoting autism-inclusive SM malls as it successfully conducted this year's ASP Angels Walk for Autism in partnership with Autism Society Philippines. The main event was held last April 21 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Simultaneous walks in SM Seaside City Cebu and SM City Davao were also held, with more walks to follow in SM City Iloilo and SM City Lucena.

This year's Angels Walk for Autism was the biggest one yet with over 23,000 participants, including persons with autism and their families, professionals, and supporters from various sectors of society locally and abroad.

Various representatives from key organizations and communities graced the nationwide event to show their support towards an Autism-OK Philippines. First launched in 2000, the annual Angels Walk for Autism aims to inspire inclusion and acceptance for persons on the autism spectrum by celebrating them and showcasing their talents, while raising public awareness of the role of the autism community in society and nation building.

SM, a longtime advocate for disability inclusion, recognizes the importance of creating safe spaces for everyone. The walk provides a supportive environment for families with children on the spectrum, allowing parents and guardians to feel at ease in a public setting – especially when visiting any SM Supermalls.

Coming together as one in calling for a more autism-friendly Philippines, simultaneous events were also held in provincial locations. The Cebu leg held at SM Seaside City Cebu had 1,900 attendees while 1,229 attendees attended the Davao leg held at SM City Davao

The annual ASP Angels Walk for Autism is part of SM Cares' ongoing programs advocating Persons with Disabilities. Aside from this, SM Cares spearheads initiatives that promote sustainability and the development of the community, including programs on Women and Breastfeeding Mothers, Senior Citizens, and Children and Youth, as well as the Bike-Friendly SM initiative, in addition to its Programs on Environment.
