Over 200 residents in San Mateo, Rizal receive free health services in PCSO medical mission

A total of 213 residents in San Mateo, Rizal received free medical and dental services from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in a mission held at Sto. Niño Parish on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The beneficiaries included children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and individuals with various medical conditions. They received essential services such as consultations, electrocardiograms (ECG), and tooth extractions, as well as free medicines and vitamins.

The successful medical mission was spearheaded by Dr. Rouel Aparato, Satellite Division Chief of the PCSO Medical Services Department, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of San Mateo – Health Department, the Rotary Club of Greater Marikina Valley, the Knights of Columbus Council 15370, Sto. Niño Parish, and the PPC – Social Service Ministry.

PCSO provides 2,000 ‘ChariTimba’ food buckets to calamity victims in Bicol

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) donated a total of 2,000 ChariTimba or food buckets to two municipalities in the Bicol Region as part of its commitment to extend assistance to disaster-affected communities.  

PCSO Director Jennifer Guevarra led the turnover ceremony on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City.

Director Guevarra handed over 1,000 food buckets to Mayor Mark Lozano of Santa Magdalena, Sorsogon, and another 1,000 to Vice Mayor Felix Macalino III of Sipocot, Camarines Sur.

The food aid was specifically allocated to families heavily affected by recent calamities. In Santa Magdalena, the prolonged rainfall that caused flash floods severely impacted farming communities, while in Sipocot, Typhoon Kristine left many households still struggling to recover from its aftermath last year. 

In addition to the food packs, the PCSO awarded educational grants to 40 college students from the two municipalities. The grants aim to support young individuals from affected families in continuing their education despite the financial challenges brought about by these disasters.  

Both Mayor Lozano and Vice Mayor Macalino expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the PCSO for the timely and significant assistance. According to them, these contributions will provide substantial relief to their constituents during these difficult times.

This initiative is part of the Agency’s commitment to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

PCSO kicks off 2025 with more donations under CSR program

Mandaluyong City. The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) welcomed new year with a generous donation of wheelchairs to the Commission on Elections-CAM SUR, Catanduanes on Monday, January 6, 2025 at the PCSO Conservatory Building in Mandaluyong City.

PCSO Charity Assistance Department Manager Dr. Orlando M. Malaca handed out 26 units of wheelchairs to Ralph U. Santos, staff and representative of COMELEC-CAMSUR Catanduanes. Said wheelchairs will be distributed to local senior citizena and other persons with disabilities.

The PCSO’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program enables the Agency to provide qualified LGUs and other organization with medical assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and canes. This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos directive to deliver timely aid to Filipinos.

PCSO releases mandatory contributions and donation to Institutional Partner

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has released its mandatory contributions to three government agencies in a brief ceremony at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, through the Bureau of the Treasury, received P1,125,731,508.55 as remittance under the Universal Health Care. 

The Commission on Higher Education received P70,562,139.40 representing grants for July to September 2024, while the Dangerous Drugs Board received P17,430,072.00 for the period April to July. A total of P1.213-B was awarded as contributions to these agencies as mandated by law.

Meantime, the PCSO granted ACAY Missions Philippines, Inc. P500,000 under the Institutional Partnership Program.

ACAY Missions Program Manager Sister Rachel Luxford and administrative head Jamaica Palpallatoc accepted the check on behalf of the organization from PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles. 

The ACAY Missions representatives and GM Robles discussed the challenges the organization encountered and how they can now calibrate strategies for smoother utilization of funding moving forward.

Nearly 2k Individuals Take Part in PCSO’s Inaugural Charity Run

A total of 1,715 individuals participated in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)’s first ever Charity Run at the Makati Ayala Triangle on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The 2024 PCSO Charity Run was held in celebration of the National Day of Charity, which also coincides with the Agency’s 90th anniversary.

Organized by RunRio, a renowned event management company specializing in athletic events, the charity run featured three distance categories—3 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 10 kilometers—allowing participants of all fitness levels to join. The event aimed not only to foster physical fitness and mental well-being but also to promote a sense of unity, camaraderie, and community spirit among the attendees. 

Those who took part in the run included PCSO officials and employees, partner institutions, other government employees, beneficiaries and stakeholders. The event was also opened to the public.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles delivered an inspiring keynote address before the run commenced and emphasized the significance of the event as a tribute to the spirit of charity. "It is my honor to welcome you all to the first-ever Charity Run of the PCSO in celebration of the now-annual National Day of Charity. Today, we woke up very early not just to bond with our loved ones, but to support the advocacies of the PCSO and the many charities and foundations across the country," he said. 

He also expressed hope that the charity run would become an annual tradition, saying, "Let’s all enjoy, support our fellow runners, cheer for one another, and most importantly, celebrate the act of giving."

Adding to the festive atmosphere, 12 PCSO charity partners and foundations set up booths that showcased the charitable services they offer. This provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the work being done to support various causes in the Philippines, from health assistance to social welfare programs.

The awarding ceremony recognized the top three male and female runners in each category, with GM Robles leading the distribution of medals and prizes. 

Being the first of its kind, the PCSO Charity Run has set a promising precedent, leaving participants and organizers optimistic about future events. According to GM Robles, the enthusiasm and support over the event indicate that the charity run could become a beloved annual tradition, further solidifying PCSO’s role in promoting health, wellness, and charitable causes across the nation.
