Pensiyon para sa mga mahihirap na senior, itataas sa 100% — DSWD

Tatanggap ng monthly P1,000 stipend simula sa susunod na buwan ang mga mahihirap na senior citizen na benepisyaryo ng programang Social Pension ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez na inihayag ngayong Lunes.

Doble ang taas ng halagang ito kaysa sa P500 na matagal nang tinatanggap ng mga mahihirap na senior citizen bago ang nasabing pagtaas.

“We expect that the distribution of the social pension for the first semester with its increased amount will commence this February 2024,” pahayag ni Lopez.

“The social pension is provided to eligible and qualified indigent senior citizens to augment their daily subsistence and address their medical needs,” paliwanag pa niya.

Idinagdag pa niya na itinuturing na ‘eligible’ para sa programa ang mga senior citizen kung hindi sila kabilang sa mga tumatanggap na ng pensyon mula sa Social Security System, Government Service Insurance System, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc., o alinmang private insurance company.

DSWD, magbibigay ng ayuda sa mga jeepney driver

Tiniyak ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na maaaring magkaroon ng access sa kanilang serbisyo ang mga jeepney driver na maaapektuhan ng implementasyon ng Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).

Isa ang Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) sa mga programa ng DSWD na nagbibigay ng agad at pansamantalang tulong sa mga indibidwal at pamilyang dumaranas ng krisis.

Ayon sa Direktor ng Program Management Bureau (PMB) ng DSWD na si Miramel Laxa ngayong Biyernes, Disyembre 29, maaaring magamit ng mga jeepney driver ang AICS dahil sila'y maituturing na nasa krisis.

“Availing of AICS can help them meet their basic needs through different forms of assistance such as food, and cash aid, among others,” pagbibigay-diin ni Laxa.

Nilinaw rin Laxa na ang ayuda mula sa programa ng AICS ay isang beses lamang na tulong.

Itinanggi ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ngayong Miyerkules ang kumakalat na impormasyon na magbibigay ito ng financial assistance sa mga walang trabaho na makakapagsagot ng isang survey.

Sa isang post sa official Facebook page ng DSWD, sinabi nito na "suspicious" ang registration links na kumakalat sa Facebook at Messenger.

“The DSWD does not ask the public to answer survey questionnaires in exchange for unemployment financial assistance,” saad ng DSWD sa post.

“Be careful and verify what you read online first. Don't simply believe the content that doesn't come from credible and reliable sources,” dagdag nito.
