Inaprubahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang proposal ng Department of Education (DepEd) na magsagawa ng dry run ng face-to-face classes sa ilang paaralan sa mga low COVID-risk na lugar sa January 2021, ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Aniya, “The Palace informs that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Cabinet approved during tonight’s Cabinet meeting, December 14, 2020, the presentation of the Department of Education (DepEd) to conduct pilot implementation or dry run of face-to-face classes in selected schools within areas with low COVID-risk for the whole month of January 2021.”

Saad din ni Roque, makikipag-ugnayan ang DepEd sa COVID-19 National Task Force para sa naturang dry run. Aniya, “The pilot shall be done under strict health and safety measures, and where there is a commitment for shared responsibility among DepEd, local government units, and parents.”

Paglilinaw din ni Roque, “We need to emphasize that face-to-face classes in schools where this may be allowed will not be compulsory, but rather voluntary on the part of the learner / parents.

"Having said this, a parent’s permit needs to be submitted for the student to participate in face-to-face classes."

Magsasaka, minaliit sa learning module... DepEd, pinagpapaliwanag ng mga senador

Pinagpapaliwanag ni Sen. Francis Pangilinan ang Department of Education (DepEd) kaugnay ng kontrobersiyal na learning modules kung saan makikita ang “poor depiction” sa drawing na tagpi-tagpi ang suot na damit ng pamilya ng magsasaka.

Saad ni Pangilinan, "We understand that a vast majority of our farmers are poor but to stereotype them, ano ang magiging mensahe sa ating mga kabataan? Na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang maging magsasaka?

"We don't want to teach our children to look down upon farmers. 'Pag nakita ng estudyante ito, sasabihin ‘Hindi maganda ang maging magsasaka kaya ayoko na ring maging farmer.’"

Saad naman ni Sen. Pia Cayetano, "Everyone can agree that this is a wrongful and harmful depiction of our farmers who feed us.” Binasa rin ni Cayetano ang mensahe mula kay Education Secretary Leonor Briones tungkol sa naturang pagsasalarawan sa magsasaka. Aniya, "DepEd has a zero tolerance policy against discrimination.

"The material is already out but they will issue an explanation that this is a wrongful depiction.” Iniimbestigahan na rin umano ng DepEd ang naturang insidente at ayon kay Cayetano, “Sanctions will be imposed.”

P4-B, hirit ng DepEd para sa allowance ng mga estudyante at titser

Nagplano ang Department of Education (DepEd) nitong Huwebes na magbibigay sila ng “connectivity allowance” sa susunod na taon para sa mga pampublikong guro at mga mag-aaral sa senior high school.

Humiling si Secretary Leonor Briones ng P4 bilyon mula sa Department of Budget and Management, ang P3.6 bilyon ay gagamitin sa load allowance ng 3.2 milyon senior high school students at 900,000 para sa mga guro.

Makatatanggap ng P450 load allowance ang mga guro habang P250 sa loob ng 3 buwan ang mga senior high school.

“We recognize the importance of load allowance for our learners and teachers to deliver quality education despite these challenging times due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” sabi ni Briones.

Ayon pa kay Briones, ang natitirang P400 milyon ay gagamitin sa pag-print at pag-deliver ng mga self-learning modules, paggawa ng mga materyales para sa DepEd’s online at broadcast platform at pagtatatag ng 2,000 radio transmitters.

Patuloy namang naghahanap ng paraan ang DepEd para masuportahan ang distance learning sa pamamagitan ng pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga telecommunication companies sa bansa.

Bago nito, iba’t ibang grupo ang nanawagan sa DepEd na magbigay ng load allowance para sa mga estudyante at guro dahil malaki na ang nagagastos ng mga ito para sa online class.
