Modus sa human trafficking ng OFWS, nabuking ng BI

Inihayag ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang isa pang human trafficking scheme na tumutukso sa mga Pilipino na magpunta sa ibang lokasyon sa halip na sa mga nakatalagang lugar abroad kung saan mayroon silang mga legal na kontrata para sa trabahong kanilang pinasukan.

“This modus operandi aims to mislead our immigration officers as the victims do have valid employment permits to a certain country where they had previously worked, but actually their intention is to work somewhere else,” ayon kay BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco sa isang pahayag ngayong Martes.

Ipinahayag ni Tansingco na tina-target ng scheme na ito ang mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na may mga kontrata na malapit nang matapos at inaalok na magtrabaho sa ibang bansa sa Middle East.

Kamakailan lamang, sinabi ni Tansingco na nakatanggap siya ng ulat na naharang ng Immigration and Border Enforcement Section (I-PROBES) sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ang tatlong Pilipino na magiging biktima sana ng scheme na ito.

“Two of the passengers, both women bound for Dubai, were stopped from leaving at the NAIA 3 last Nov. 1 after they admitted that the valid employment documents to Saudi Arabia they presented were just for a show as their actual intention is to work in Dubai,” aniya.

“They expressed their preference not to return to their former employers, thus they want to try their luck in Dubai where they were promised jobs by people they only met on Facebook or were referred to them by their friends,” dagdag niya.

"E-gates" sa airport, gamitin para sa mas mabilis na proseso

Inuudyukan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang mga Pilipinong bumabiyahe mula sa ibang bansa na gamitin ang electronic gates (e-gates) sa mga internasyonal na paliparan para sa mas mabilis na pagproseso.

Ayon sa BI, makababawas sa tagal ng pagproseso ang e-gates mula 45 segundo hanggang sa walong segundo lamang.

Ipinahayag na may kabuuang 32,045 pasahero na dumating noong Oktubre 31 ngunit 5,210 lamang ang gumamit ng 21 e-gates na makikita sa iba't ibang paliparan.

“Departures significantly increased before Undas, and we project that arrivals will rise in the next few days after the long holiday,”sabi ni Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

Nag-anunsyo ang BI dahil sa inaasahan na mas maraming pagdating at pag-alis ng mga pasahero sa mga itinuturing na travel peak months ngayong Nobyembre at Disyembre.

Plano ng BI na magtayo pa ng mas maraming e-gates at balak na palitan ang 50 porsyento ng kanilang mga manual operation sa taong 2026.

Kalaunan, ipinaliwanag ni BI Spokesperson Dana Krizia M. Sandoval, "an e-gate is an electronic booth that captures the passport and biometric details of passengers."

5 pekeng empleyado ng gobyerno, hinarang sa NAIA

Pinigilang umalis ng bansa ang limang Pinay na nagkunwaring empleyado ng gobyerno dahil sa pekeng travel documents, ayon sa Bureau of Immigration (BI) ngayong Linggo, Oktubre 29.

Hinarang ang limang Pinay sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) noong Martes, Oktubre 24, bago makasakay ng eroplano patungong Bangkok, Thailand.

“The passengers, who were promised high paying jobs in Thailand, presented dubious travel authority from government agencies where they are purportedly employed,” ayon sa BI.

Sa imbestigasyon, sinabi ng mga Pinay na sila'y walang trabaho at ang mga travel authority certificates at iba pang dokumento na kanilang isinumite ay pekeng dokumento at ibinigay lamang ng kanilang mga handler.

“At least two of the passengers admitted they each gave their recruiter more than P30,000 to facilitate their travel abroad,” sabi ng BI.

Isinumite na ang pagkakakilanlan ng umano'y recruiter sa Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) para sa imbestigasyon at paghahain ng mga nararapat na kaso.
