Sama-samang patitibayin at patatatagin nina Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino ang hawak na Olympic motto na “Faster, Higher, Stronger-Together” kasunod ang pasasalamat sa mga sports leaders sa isang fellowship kasabay ng Christmas Party makaraang maigawad muli sa kanya ang mandato bilang Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president.
“Let us continue to strive for greater heights in the spirit of teamwork and perfection,” ani Tolentino sa tatlong dosenang national sports association leaders nang magsalu-salo sa Hotel Okura Manila sa Pasay City nitong weekend.
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all members of the Philippine Olympic Committee,” aniya pa, “your dedication, hard work and unity have been instrumental in shaping the success of Philippine sports this year.”
“Together, we have overcome challenges, celebrated victories, and strengthened our commitment to supporting our athletes and nation,” dagdag pa ni Tolentino na sa ilalim ng kanyang pamumuno ay naka-dalawang Olympics—Tokyo 2020 at Paris 2024— gold medals isa mula kay weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo at dalawa mula kay gymnast Carlos Yulo.
“Thank you for your unwavering passion and service,” aniya sa panahon ng POC elections noong Biyernes ay nakakuha ng 45 boto sa may 61 na bumoto sa Olympic cycle elections.
Kasama ni Tolentino na nagdiwang bilang newly-elected POC auditor si Donaldo Caringal (volleyball) at Executive Board members Leonora Escollante (canoe-kayak-dragon boat), Leah Gonzalez (fencing), Alvin Aguilar (wrestling), Ferdinand Agustin (jiu-jitsu) at Alexander Sulit (judo) at secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan (kickboxing).
Maging sina Ramon “Tats” Suzara, president ng national and Asian volleyball bodies, gymnastics’ Cynthia Carrion at Rowena Eusuya, cycling’s Atty. Billy Sumagui, sepak takraw’s Karen Caballero, boxing’s Marcus Manalo at Athletes Commission’s Nikko Huelgas.
