Resulta ng antigen test, isasama na sa bilang ng COVID-19 cases

Isasama na rin ng Department of Health (DOH) sa official tally ng COVID-19 cases ang mga nagpositibo sa antigen test results.

Sa ngayon ay nakukuha ang official tally base sa resulta ng RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests at ayon kay Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, inirekomenda ng World Health Organization (WHO) ang paggamit ng antigen test kits sa Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, at Laguna na isinailalim sa enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Pahayag ni Vergeire, “The rapid antigen test will be officially reported for this period that we have this increase in the number of cases… it’s going to be used as part of our outbreak response.

“In our guidelines and based on WHO recommendations, when there are areas with increased incidence or there are outbreaks like what we are having right now, you can use antigen test as confirmatory already so we do not need any RT-PCR.”

Una na ring sinabi ni Testing Czar Vince Dizon na plano ng pamahalaan na taasan ang COVID-19 tests araw-araw ng higit sa 90,000 sa pamamagitan ng antigen test kits.

Saad naman ni Vergeire, “But if you are going to use the rapid antigen in areas where there is low prevalence and you use them for asymptomatics or screening, you need the use of the RT-PCR for you to confirm that test.”

Samantala, nakapagtala ang bansa ng 9,296 karagdagang kaso ng COVID-19 ngayong araw at sa kabuuang bilang ay 124,680 na ang naitalang active cases.
