WWII veteran tinalo ang coronavirus, nagdiwang ng 104-kaarawan

Isang WWII veteran na si Bill Lapschies ang nakarekober matapos labanan ang coronavirus at nagdaos pa ng kanyang 104 na karawan.

 

Hindi pinayagan ang mga bisita sa loob ng Edward C. Allworth Veteran’s Home sa Lebanon dahil sa statewide restrictions, kaya sa labas ang selebrasyon.

 

Palakpakan, kantahan, kaway-kaway at flying kiss ang ibinigay ng kanyang mga kamag-anak at kaibigan habang siya na nakaupo sa wheelchair ay nakatanaw mula sa patio ng ospital.

 

Ayon sa anak ng Oregon veteran na si Carolee Brown, hindi sana ganoon ang plano nilang selebrasyon ng kaarawan ng ama, subalit dahil sa coronavirus nag-iba ang lahat.

 

“We celebrated his 101 and had over 200 people. So, trying to keep our social distancing and do what Governor [Kate] Brown has asked us to do," sabi ni Brown. "But we're so thrilled he's recovered from this and we just had to do something for him."
