Isinagawa ang fuel marking na sinaksihan ni Bureau of Customs (BOC) Deputy Commissioner for Enforcement Teddy Raval at iba pang opisyal at kinatawan mula sa fuel marker consortium, SICPA SA-SGS Philippines at Chevron Philippines, Inc. (CPI).
Nabatid na si Raval ang head ng implementing BOC office sa Fuel Marking Program (FMP) ng gobyerno.
Layon ng naturang fuel marking activity na sugpuin ang oil smuggling sa bansa, sa pamamagitan ng paglalagay ng molecular marker sa mga imported, manufactured at refined fuel product tulad ng gasolina, diesel at kerosene.
Kaugnay nito, sumailalim na rin ang Chevron sa nasabing fuel marking.
Ang live fuel marking ng CPI, marketer ng Caltex brand ng top-quality fuels, lubricants at petroleum products ay isinagawa kamakailan sa kanilang import terminal sa San Pascual, Batangas.
Dahil dito, ang CPI ang kauna-unahan sa tinaguriang ‘Big 3’ oil companies, na tumalima sa fuel marking requirement na ipinatutupad ng pamahalaan.
“CPI supports the government’s initiative to curb fuel smuggling through this fuel marking program. We hope that this program will level the playing field among the industry participants and ensure that all oil companies pay the correct taxes and help build the nation,” ani CPI Country Chairman Louie Zhang.
