Sa hangarin na maabot ang mas maraming Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members at marginalized sector, nag-deploy ng kanilang personnel ang More Electric and Power Corporation (More Power) sa mga barangay para tumanggap ng aplikasyon para mabigyan ng diskwento sa singil sa kuryente o ang lifeline rate subsidy sa ilalim ng Epira Law.

"In addition to accepting applications in our office, we also deploy personnel to barangays for on-site registration," pahayag ni More Power President at CEO Roel Castro.

Ang full rollout ng aplikasyon para sa subsidy ay pinalawig ng DOE hanggang sa Setyembre dahil sa mababang turnout ng aplikasyon.

"There are 4.2 million household beneficiaries of 4Ps, and the registration for lifeline subsidy remains very low. Only those who register will continue to receive a reduction in their electricity bills beginning August 2023," nauna nang pahayag ni Energy Sec. Raphael Lotilla.

Ang discount rate ay depende sa konsumo, nasa 10 percent discount kung ang gamit na kuryente ay nasa 81 kWh hanggang 95 kWh, 20 percent kung 71kWh hanggang 80kWh, 35 percent naman sa kumukonsumo ng 61 kWh hanggang 70kWh, 45 percent kung 51 kWh hanggang 60kWh, 50 percent sa nakakagamit ng 21kWh hanggang 50 kWh, at 100 percent discount kung 20kWh o mababa pa ang buwanang konsumo sa kuryente.

Pinuna ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III ang administrasyong Marcos kaugnay sa P9.2 bilyong confidential at intelligence funds.

"The allocation of P9.2 billion to confidential and intelligence funds while our fellow Filipinos in calamity-stricken areas suffer raises serious questions about the government’s understanding of the real needs and challenges faced by our country," wika ni Pimentel sa isang pahayag.

Sa proposed allocation sa CIFs, P4.5 bilyon ang mapupunta sa Office of the President, P500 milyon sa Office of the Vice President, at P1.7 bilyon sa Department of National Defense, bukod sa iba pa.

Para kay Pimentel, inilarawan niya na isang malaking pagkakamali ang mga naging prayoridad ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., sa panukalang P5.768 trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP).

"This budgetary decision is a huge mistake. It only strengthens what I discussed during my contra SONA that the government failed to understand the situation at the household level," punto ni Pimentel.

"It shows the lack of empathy and understanding of the real needs of ordinary Filipinos," dagdag pa niya.

Green energy agreement para sa mas murang kuryente

Isang tripartite agreement ang nilagdaan sa pagitan ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Iloilo City Government at More Electric and Power Corporation (More Power) na nagsusulong ng paggamit ng renewable energy resources na magbibigay daan sa pagbaba pa ng presyo ng kuryente.

Sa ilalim ng kasunduan, mag-eestablisa ng one-stop shop na nag-aalok ng renewable energy technologies gaya ng Net-Metering at Distributed Energy Resources (DER) na maaaring pagpilian ng mga consumers.

Ayon kay More Power President at CEO Roel Castro, ang kasunduan sa pagitan ng ERC at Iloilo City ay bilang pagsuporta sa target ng pamahalaan na mabawasan ang greenhouse gas emissions sa pamamagitan ng paggamit na ng renewable energy resources.

Sinabi ni ERC Chairperson at CEO Atty. Monalisa Dimalanta na sa ilalim ng kasunduan ang ERC ang magbibigay ng technical at regulatory expertise.

Nabatid na ang Iloilo City ang ikalawa lamang sa mga pilot Local Government Unit partner ng ERC para sa Net-Metering at sa kanilang greater renewable energy program.

Hinimok ni Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas ang mga residente na lumipat na sa paggamit ng renewable energy para sa tiyak na pagbaba ng kanilang energy consumption.
